    LEWIS CENTER STUDENTS WIN BIG AT SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR


    Apple Valley, CA. May 7, 2010. On Wednesday April 14, 2010, students from Lewis Center's Academy for Academic Excellence (AAE) competed in the Annual RIMS Inland Science & Engineering Fair Awards Ceremony (ISEF.)

    The excitement and recognition the students received along with the opportunity to meet other students at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino, more than rewarded students for their efforts over the past eight months.

    AAE students received the following awards:

    Elisa Calderon, a 4th grader, was awarded a SILVER medal for her project entitled "Do Boys and Girls Fingerprints Differ".

    Angelina Clinkenbeard, a 4th grader was awarded a GOLD medal for her project entitled "Bacteria for Your Eating Pleasure".

    Kaitlyn Collins a 6th grader, was awarded a BRONZE medal for her project entitled "Grow, Grow, Grow".

    Gabriel Pineda a 6th grader, was awarded a BRONZE medal for his project entitled "Loft Angle - Five, Seven, Nine".

    Nolan Palmer a 7th graders, was awarded a GOLD medal for his project entitled "Respiration Physiology: Does Elevation Affect Lung Capacity".

    These six projects represent the best of the top 1% of all science project that competed this year in a 4 county area (RIMS - Riverside, Inyo, Mono, San Bernardino counties)

    Seventh grader Nolan Palmer's project was one of two gold metals awarded in his category and those with the gold go to state!

    Fourth grade student Angelina Clinkenbeard's project was awarded the RIMS Elementary Sweepstakes Award as the best 4th or 5th grade project displayed this year. Fourth and fifth grade entries do not go on to state. That makes it the best project of the top 1% of the best projects in all four counties.

    This year's two day State Science Fair will be held on May 17 and 18th at the California Science and Technology Center in Los Angeles.
