Jon Keller brings a wealth of experience to NSLA in his jobs as PE teacher and Athletic Director.  He has been a PE teacher for over 20 years.  He has eight years’ experience as a PE Department Chairperson and three years’ experience being in charge of Professional Development for secondary PE.  He has also mentored nine student teachers in PE over his career.

Mr. Keller was a recruited walk on to Cal State LA to play basketball.  It was there an eye injury cut his athletic career short.  He immediately then begin his career coaching basketball.  He has won league championships at all levels of high school and his teams made the playoffs in 11 of the 13 years he coached.  He then was the Associate Head Coach at Chaffey College for 15 years.  His teams made the playoffs in 14 of 15 seasons he coached there.  The Panthers also made the State Final Four in three of the last four years he coached at Chaffey.  His favorite accomplishment is having 70 of his players receive scholarships to play basketball at four-year universities.

From there Mr. Keller became a volunteer consultant for a couple of women’s Division I college basketball teams.  He helped Long Beach St and the University of Washington women’s teams.

Mr.Keller has recently become involved in scoreboard operation with  numerous college/professional teams.  He has worked for the LA Clippers, LA Sparks, G-League Clippers, USC mens/womens basketball/volleyball and football, Cal Poly Pomona mens/womens basketball, UCLA football, San Diego St football and well as the LAFC.  It is a great hobby that allows him to watch these teams while enjoying incredible seats at these sporting events.

He and his beautiful wife Joann have six children, one son-in-law, one dog, and a 10 year old goldfish between them.  They enjoy going to their children’s athletic events, travelling, and binge-watching TV series together.

He is really looking forward to growing the athletic programs at NSLA.  The high school program will experience tremendous growth over the next few years.  Mr. Keller is so thankful for the administrative support he has received since he has joined the Rocket team.  He can’t wait to see how much excitement a high school Athletics program will bring to the campus.
